Two More Days

I am still here. Hope you are too!

We have had a great summer, but as always it has come and gone too quickly. I can't wait to get into a regular routine and share it.  This also has been  a summer full of bittersweetness.  I've been taking a lot of slow deep breathes, swallowing hard and tossing and turning at night.

My house looks and feels like a bomb has gone off inside it. Closets are being emptied and every suitcase we own is loaded down. The dogs know something big is going on, especially sensitive little Lola. She must think we are leaving her and Charlie forever.

I am praying that I do not have to make another Target run to buy another plastic bin or drawer.

I 'd really be okay if this Friday never got here.

Just two more days we take Barrett to college.

First she had to get into UNC's School of Nursing. 

It was not an easy feat.

(UNC's nursing school is small and is consistently ranked in the top ten in the US.)

She was elated when she was accepted. 

We were proud.

In December (13), we celebrated her graduation!

Since then she has been at home doing this…..

studying…

AND 

messing up the office

AND

collecting cups and plates upstairs

AND

living in sweats

AND 

shuffling around the house in slippers. 

But, all of the hard work paid off.  

Monday morning she went to take the state boards 

and today she found out that she passed!  

She is officially an RN!

We are so proud of her! 

Let job offers begin!

PAGING NURSE BRITTANY

Last weekend we got to watch and celebrate #1's

graduation from UNC Chapel Hill.

She graduated from the school of nursing.

We are so proud of her and so elated that she is finally a graduate!

After the ceremony we went to the different UNC landmarks to take some pictures, but everyone that graduated had the same plan we did. 

It was too crowded and there were lines. 

So we headed to the Fearington House to take pictures.

The famous belted cows were out so why not take pictures with them?

We then headed back towards campus…

and walked around Franklin Street before our dinner reservations.

We finally made it home and Brittany had a few graduation gifts waiting to be opened.

I decided to keep up with our birthday sign tradition

(just simple signs on notebook paper)

and made her some special ones. 

Maybe in a few weeks I can make her a

"I got a job"

sign?
