CELEBRATING SUMMER

We are trying to celebrate summer each and everyday here at our house.
It goes by too quickly if you do not put a little effort into filling each day with
the things and people you love.

Pictures of our Monday in Raleigh:

"Thanks dad!"

(sunbathing)

(my deer eaten geranium...can't believe they lasted this long!)

(best place to be during a thunderstorm!)

(Charlie brought me his leash......guess he wanted to go for a walk!)

 (Loving my new Keds!)

What I didn't take a picture of today:

my destroyed kitchen from Barrett's eggplant parmesan
the laundry still waiting to folded on my bed
Brooke with her plastic bins leaving to go pack up her apartment
Brittany napping
every TV on in the house so that we didn't miss the big announcement out of London

NAPA

The other week we took #2 on a trip to Napa County for her college graduation.
We went for five beautiful days.
BF2 tagged along.

We had to leave extremely early in the morning and #2 and BF2 took a little nap while we waited for our flight.

We landed in San Francisco and had to drive about an hour to the house we were staying in.
We were so excited that we had to cross the Golden Gate Bridge.

We stayed in a cute little neighborhood in Yountville.
Every house was landscaped with roses, rosemary, lavender and jasmine.

The smell was incredible, very spa like.

The views weren't so bad either!

One day we took a tour of the area and really enjoyed learning and
seeing things we would never have found on our own.
The other days we just explored on our own.

We loved Far Niente Winery.
Far Niente is italian and means  "to do nothing".
(We especially wanted to tour this winery because we named our beach house Dolce Far Niente.)

We ate lunch at some really neat places....

We went to a great place that has been on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives
on Food Network.
It was almost embarrassing how we were excited about it.

Hamburgers, fish tacos and tuna burgers.....yum!

Another day we stopped and got sandwiches at Oakville Grocery.

We were able to walk to a different restaurant every night.

I have been working really hard and had lost 25 pounds
before this trip.....but while there I "found" five of them again!!
sigh

Our friends (hosts) Lonnie and Anna came and spent some time with us.

We had a wonderful time and I cannot wait to go back.
#1 graduates in December and she has already started planning her outfits and the looking up restaurants.
I have decided I need to hit the gym even harder....starting today  yesterday!

sigh...just beautiful!
