I'VE GOT A HANKERING

The Man of the House and I said we would never do it again.
We said we would never get another dog after losing Cleo in January.
We loved her like she was one of our kids. If you've ever had a dog, you know that they do become one of your children.

I miss Cleo.

I miss her and I miss having a dog.

I miss things like this........

#1 and #2 always had a dog (or two) growing up.
Before Cleo, there were two very spoiled West Highland Terriers named Nicholas and Muffin.
#3 is now the only child at home and will be for 5 1/2 years.
I always feel so guilty when we leave her home by herself. It looks so lonely and I know a dog would be great company to her.
She misses having a dog too and she keeps asking if we are ever going to get another one.

The Man of the House and I have these wonderful plans that involves travel, Italy, beaches and airplanes once #3 is in college. Things like that are just so hard to do when there is a four legged child in your house. But on the other hand, 5 1/2 years is a long time from now.

We saw these guys when we went to Charleston in August......

and ever since then I've had this hankering.

I've been doing a lot of looking and researching on the internet.
I have fallen for the "doodles".

The face on this guy above just kills me. How sweet does he look?

On the other hand.........
the guy below probably WOULD kill me if we brought a puppy home.
Mr. Bubbles has become a spoiled little cat and usually is a good sport about most of things we put him go through. I don't know how he would feel about sharing all of the attention but,
I am pretty sure he'd gladly share his Elf Costume.

I'm thinking you'll have a dog pretty soon : ) Once you start the talk you're more than halfway there...we are empty nesters with a dog and we travel alot. We started boarding her early and she absolutely loves the kennel here. Jumps right out of the car and walks right on in...I almost think I could let her out in the parking lot : )

Plus, when your #3 goes off to college you'll appreciate the company too...I love walking into my house and knowing its not completely empty. In 5 1/2 years if you want to travel you could probably leave the dog with #1 or #2 to babysit and not even worry about kennels and boarding, etc.

You need a dog! The company will be so worth it. I always feel so safe when I am at my parents house and their lab is around. I wish more than anything my apartment allowed them!

My hubby and I are thinking (dreaming) along the same lines. We still have 4 1/2 years to go, and one spoiled cat and two obnoxious beagles left to break our hearts one day. The last pup and Mr. Bubbles are adorable! Can't wait to see which one you choose (you know you're gonna!).

Oh I hear you! We got our dog 5 1/2 years ago. First one ever! The Hubby grew up with german shepards so to agree to a lap thing took awhile.
I have exactly 1 year left until we are empty nesters and I'm thinkin' this could be a problem. Although Joyce's idea of having #1 or #2 dog sit is a good one.
Those dogs are so cute!
