FIRED

After twenty three years of having the job of driving three girls around...

I just got fired!

Here is #3 leaving for school on Monday...

after a good little lecture about the roads being wet, traffic, radio listening,
speed limits, school zones and so on (and on and on).

The rules are that when she gets to school she is to call me, so that I can stop worrying.

I texted her to remind her,
just in case she forgot.
She didn't call, but  texted back...

I didn't even get to hear how her first drive to school went until she got home!

I have never been the kind of parent that handed over car keys as soon as any of my girls got their driver's license. For now,  #3 will only be allowed to drive to school and back.
We will continue to build and add to that as the weeks go by.
She also will not be allowed to have any one in the car with her for a while.....
I do not care what the law says.

Tuesday we had to drop the car off at the shop to have one of the windows replaced.
Although it looks like a new car, it is not. It was previously owned, but very well taken care of.
Like with all things used, there are a few little things that need to be adjusted and fixed.
The passenger window squeaked and popped when it was rolled down, the dealer just decided to replace the entire thing since the car is still under warranty.
They had to keep the car for two days.
 #3 was so disappointed.
Me?
Not so much.

My mom couldn't wait for me to get my license so I could drive Kate and Keegan around to all of their activities. My first car was a doozy. #3 has it made with the Jeep!

So exciting and sad....I really missed driving Katelyn to school. I never really thought of it as a chore. Some of the best conversations were in those 10 minute drives. But with that said look at your D3 smile independence at this age is everything and you have raised amazing girls....she will do great. Happy weekend!

Can't say that I blame you! A new teenaged driver in Raleigh? Yikes! I learned to drive in a tiny town, and it still tore my nerves up! :)
